Q: How do I join the PTA? A: By paying your PTA dues, you automatically become a member of the SJS PTA. Being an active member through volunteering your time and talents is critical to meeting our fundraising goal. The SJS PTA is an amazing group of parents - please become a member and see what we are all about!
Q: What is the Class Coffee? A: This year's Class Coffee will be held on September 21st from 9am-12pm. At the Class Coffee, you can meet your class parents, sign up for classroom events and field trips, pay your PTA dues, shop the SJS Store and sign up to volunteer for any of the different events the PTA offers during the year.
Q: What do Class Parents do? A: Your Class Parent is your liaison to the PTA, as well as your child's class and teacher. It is a great way to get to know the other parents in your child's class. Being a Class Parent is also a perfect way for a new family to become involved in the PTA. If you are interested in becoming a Class Parent, click HERE.
Q: What are the different events offered by the PTA? A: The PTA offers a wide variety of events and activities throughout the year. Some of our events are focused solely on the children, while some are for families and others are for adults-only. Check out our calendar of events and join the fun!
Q: What is VIRTUS? A: VIRTUS is a training program adopted by the Diocese of Rockville Centre designed to help churches and religious organizations refine their roles as child-safe environments and empower caring adults to protect children. All parent volunteers must register and complete the VIRTUS training program. For more information and the next scheduled class in our area click HERE.
Q: When can I attend a VIRTUS training session? A: Several sessions are offered at our school. Please contact Mrs. Cioffi, Assistant Principal, at email@example.com for further details. If you cannot attend one of these sessions, you can take one offered in another parish. Parking at SJS:
In an effort to protect all children and to keep the drop off and dismissal process as safe as possible, for all our students, please refer to the following guide. Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation with these guides. The safety of all children is of the utmost importance. PLEASE:
Do not double park.
Do not leave your car unattended and/or running as you run up to drop off or pick up your child.
Do not block a neighbor's driveway, even if it is for "just a minute."
Do not make U-Turns.
Note that the North side of Fourth Street is a NO PARKING Zone during the school day. (In an effort to make parking available during concerts and other school events held at our school please be advised that an arrangement has been made with the Garden City Police Department to notify them that we are having a special event. We will notify the GCPD of the day and time of the event and ask that the cards not be tickets during the time of the event. This is ONLY for special events or workshops. At all other times, especially at drop off and dismissal, the Fourth Street area must be clear for the buses to park and/or pull into the school yard.
As a student at St. Joseph School, your child has the opportunity to join a number of community sports programs. They are not associated with St. Joseph School or the PTA.
